Socialight is a location-based social network headquartered in New York. Their Rails-based application was struggling with complex geographical searches. Sean was hired as a consultant to implement an improved search based on Apache Lucene. Customising the Lucene code-base to handle geographic queries the maximum response time was reduced to less than a second from a previous worst case of over a minute.
